There is a six-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.
The boy believes his heart is going to stop, he puts his head down and prays this prayer, "Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat." He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.
As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.
The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!"
Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out.
All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie. She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. "You've done enough, you klutz!"
Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Susie whispers back, "I wet my pants once too."
May He help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good. (also, may you never wet your pants!)
Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.
It is prayer and letting God in your heart that is the key to leading that peaceful everyday life.
Sometimes we will all be that small boy, but never be afraid of being a "Susie" because of ridicule.

a solitary twinkle its cradle, the crescent moon. a soft whisper more silver than blue.
a glimpse of tomorrow. will that star still be there? or will it be some kind of omen for that love they once shared?
funny how you can see it from here, how they'll only be together, in the heavens without fear.
who will be watching to see if they'll ever meet again? to cradle like lovers or kiss like old friends.

You Are Near by Dan Schutte S.J. adapted from Psalm 139
Yahweh I know You are near Standing always by my side You guard me from the foe And you lead me in ways everlasting
Lord you have searched my heart And You know when I sit and when I stand Your hand is upon me Protecting me from death Keeping me from harm
Where can I run from Your love It I climb to the heavens You are there If I fly to the sunrise Or sail beyond the sea You would still be there
You know my heart and its ways You who formed me before I was born In the secret of darkness Before I saw the sun In my mother’s womb
Marvelous to me are Your works How profound are Your thoughts my Lord Even if I could count them They number as the stars You would still be there

 The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray. "Take only ONE. God is watching. "Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples.
A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."
A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?" Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."
A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.. "Yes," the class said. "Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?" A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah". The teacher asked, " What if Jonah went to hell?" The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".

Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd, (white) I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, (green) he leads me beside quiet waters, (blue) he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness (clear) for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, (black) I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, (brown) they comfort me. You prepare a table (brown) before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil (yellow); my cup (purple) overflows. Surely goodness and love (pink) will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord (gold) forever.

-
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
-
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
-
where there is injury, pardon;
-
where there is doubt, faith;
-
where there is despair, hope;
-
where there is darkness, light;
-
and where there is sadness, joy.
-
O Divine Master,
-
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
-
to be understood, as to understand;
-
to be loved, as to love;
-
for it is in giving that we receive,
-
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
-
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
-
Amen.
